An Absolutely Wild Month For MetaZoo

Following the launch of their latest set Wilderness, MetaZoo continues to show absolutely no signs of slowing down. In the past 26 days, MetaZoo launched 4 separate product releases: Magicast spellbooks, fan art blisters, skateboard decks, and now a collaborative booster box with eBay. In just 8 months time, MetaZoo has gone from being an unknown brand to a household name in the trading card game industry.

Like most success stories, the brand’s rise to fame hasn’t been without its fair share of criticism. Nonetheless, MetaZoo’s track record of industry partnerships speaks for itself. How many other card games have partnered with Steve Aoki, Topps, and eBay? It’s also widely speculated a Funko partnership is also in the works.

Here at Poke Cellar, we enjoy supporting all trading card game — both old and new. However, the infrastructure and framework created by the MetaZoo brand is something that must be acknowledged. Sure, the speculative upside on the endless stream of Kickstarter campaigns is fun to fantasize about. But the reality remains that MetaZoo has one of the most developed and refined roadmaps out there and is lightyears ahead of many competitors. The level of execution and logistical expertise needed to get to this point is not to be taken lightly.

Needless to say, we continue to stand by our original thesis of MetaZoo becoming much more than a trading card game. Similar to Pokemon, this very well could be one of the largest media franchises of our generation. Let us know what you think in the comments below. Do we have a legitimate argument or have we sipped too much from the MetaZoo Kool-Aid?

What do you think?

Opinions are my own. I enjoy writing about the good and the bad of the trading card game industry. Some articles may be written using artificial intelligence technology.
